DUAL EXHAUST KIT

FITS 1997-2000 DODGE DAKOTA 2WD & 4WD PICKUPS W/3.9L V-6 & 5.2L V-8 AND SINGLE 2-1/2" EXHAUST AFTER THE CONVERTER.  THIS KIT FITS ALL WHEEL BASE MODELS.

NOTE:  DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY CLAMPS OR FASTENERS UNTIL THE LAST STEP!
NOTE:  FOR REGULAR CAB SHORT BOX, YOU WILL NOT USE THE LONGER EXTENSION PIPE.  INSTEAD, YOU WILL NEED TO CUT THE Y-PIPE TO THE LENGTH OF YOUR O.E. MUFFLER BODY.  YOU WILL THEN NEED TO USE THE INCLUDED 2-1/2” ID/ID ADAPTER TO CONNECT THE Y-PIPE TO THE CONVERTER.

1)  FOR LONG BOX AND EXTENDED CAB MODELS, HOLD UP THE INCLUDED EXTENSION PIPE TO THE EXISTING EXTENSION PIPE BETWEEN THE MUFFLER AND THE CONVERTER.  THE INCLUDED EXTENSION PIPE WILL BE LONGER THAN THE EXISTING EXTENSION PIPE ON THE LONG BOX MODELS.  THE Y-PIPE WILL REPLACE THE FULL LENGTH OF THE MUFFLER.  MARK THE EXTRA LENGTH OF THE PIPE (FROM THE 2-1/2” O.D. END), YOU WILL NEED TO CUT AT THIS LENGTH IN STEP 2).  REMOVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AT THE CLAMP BEHIND THE CONVERTER LEAVING ONLY THE ORIGINAL Y PIPE, RUBBER MOUNTS FOR HANGERS (EXCEPT FOR THE REAR ONE), AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON THE TRUCK.  NOTE:   ON MOST MODELS THIS IS STAINLESS STEEL PIPE.  YOU MAY WANT TO USE AS MUCH OF THIS O.E. PIPE AS POSSIBLE AND CUT THE INCLUDED EXTENSION PIPE ACCORDINGLY.

NOTE:  THE FRONT PIPE WILL NEED TO BE CUT TO FIT THE SHORTER WHEEL BASE MODELS.  THIS PIPE FITS EXTENDED CAB MODELS WITHOUT CUTTING.

2)  FOR THOSE WITH REGULAR CAB MODELS, CUT OFF OF THE 2-1/2" O.D. END OF THE FRONT PIPE THAT YOU MARKED OFF IN STEP 1).   SLIP THE FRONT PIPE INTO PLACE AND SLIDE THE 2-1/2" CLAMP ON THE PIPE.  FOR SHORT BOX MODELS, USE THE ADAPTER INSTEAD.  NOTE:  THE INLET OF THE FRONT PIPE IS NOTCHED TO FIT THE O.E. PIPE.

3)  USE THE 2-1/2"  HANGER CLAMP TO ATTACH THE INLET OF THE Y PIPE AND THE EXTENSION PIPE TOGETHER.  MOUNT THE HANGER TO THE FRONT O.E. RUBBER MOUNT.

4)  INSTALL THE RIGHT TAIL PIPE TO THE Y PIPE USING A 2-1/4" CLAMP.  INSTALL THE 2-1/4" HANGER CLAMP ON THE RIGHT TAIL PIPE IN THE FIRST BEND AND CONNECT TO THE O.E. RUBBER MOUNT BEHIND THE REAR AXLE.

5)  INSTALL THE LEFT TAIL PIPE TO THE Y PIPE USING A 2-1/4" CLAMP.  THE LEFT TAIL PIPE GOES UP OVER THE PUMPKIN AND BETWEEN THE SPARE TIRE AND THE SHOCK.

6)  INSTALL A THU900 (360 DEGREE SWINGER HANGER) TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL PIPES AFTER THE REAR AXLE, BUT BEFORE THE TIPS.  USE THE BOLT, LOCK WASHER, FENDER WASHER AND NUT TO CONNECT THE SWINGER HANGER TO THE FRAME.  IF NO HOLE IS PRESENT, DRILL A 5/16" HOLE IN THE FRAME.  CONNECT THE SWINGER HANGER AND THE APPROPRIATE TAIL PIPE USING A 2-1/4" CLAMP.

7)  TRIM THE TAIL PIPES TO YOUR DESIRED LENGTH.  INSTALL THE TIPS TO THE TAIL PIPES USING THE  2-1/4" CLAMPS.

8)  TIGHTEN ALL CLAMPS AND BOLTS.  CHECK FOR CLEARANCE OF THE FRAME, BODY, AND BRAKE AND FUEL LINES.
