INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: do not tighten any clamps or nuts and bolts until the last
step!! Before cutting any pipes it is a good idea to lay out all
the included pipes along side the vehicle and get a good idea of how
the pipes will hang on the vehicle. Please read the instructions
fully and thoroughly before you begin.
NOTE: the extension pipe on this vehicle is stainless
steel. While this is a cat-back kit, we recommend re-using the
existing extension pipe instead of the included extension pipe.
To do this, just remove the exhaust system at the inlet of the muffler
and skip steps 1) & 2).
1) Remove the old exhaust system at the inlet of the muffler,
leaving only the y-pipe, converters, and the extension pipe on the
truck. Two ID/OD extension pipes and two extra 2-3/4” clamps have
been included to replace the original stainless steel extension pipe if
you so desire.
2) If necessary, install the ID/OD extension pipe to the converter pipe
using a 2-3/4” clamp. For quad cab long box (160.5” w.b.) no
cutting is necessary, and you will need both extension pipes and both
3” clamps. For quad cab short box and regular cab long box
(140.5” w.b.), use only one of the extension pipes and one of the
2-3/4” clamps, and for the regular cab short box (120.5” w.b.), install
the y-pipe directly to the converter pipe using a 2-3/4” clamp.
3) Install the y-pipe to the extension pipe, using a 2-3/4” clamp
to connect the two pieces. Make sure that the y-pipe is mounted
parallel to the ground. NOTE: the y-pipe has an offset
bend, and the exhaust should rise after the converter, not go
lower. Connect the front wire hanger on the y-pipe to the O.E.
rubber mount along side the y-pipe. Connect the wire hangers at
the rear of the y-pipe to the O.E. rubber hanger mounts along both
sides of the y-pipe.
4) Install the right tail pipe (it has 4 bends) making sure that
you have at least 1/2” of clearance from the shock, using a 2-1/4”
clamp.
5) Install the left tail pipe (2 bends) to the y-pipe using a
2-1/4” clamp, making sure that you have clearance between the rear
brake line (bend bracket to the front if necessary), shock, and spare
tire. Connect the hanger to the o.e. rubber mount above.
NOTE: the tail pipe crosses over the top and behind the rear
differential, and is routed between the shock and the
spring.
6) Install the rear portion of the left tail pipe (it has one
bend) to the left tail pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp. Locate the 1”
hole in the frame above the middle of the left tail pipe extension and
using a 3/8” x 1-1/4” bolt, nut, lock washer, and fender washer, mount
the BR91930 to the frame. Clamp the BR91930 hanger to the rear
portion of the left tail pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp. It may be
necessary to put a 90 degree bend in the hanger for proper fit.
7) Install the rear portion of the right tail pipe (it is
straight & 16”) to the right tail pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp.
Locate the 1” hole in the frame above the connecting point of the right
tail pipe extension and the right tail pipe, and using a 3/8” x 1-1/4”
bolt, nut, lock washer, and fender washer, mount the BR91930 to the
frame. Clamp the BR91930 hanger to the rear portion of the left
tail pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp. It may be necessary to put a 90
degree bend in the hanger for proper fit.
8) Trim the tail pipes to length. Install the tips to the
tail pipes using 2-1/4” clamps.
9) Tighten all clamps, nuts, and bolts. Check for leaks and
for clearance of all brake and fuel lines, and for clearance of all
chassis and frame components. We recommend tack welding the
joints (not necessary though).
