INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: do not tighten any clamps or nuts and bolts until the last
step!! Before cutting any pipes it is a good idea to lay out all
the included pipes along side the vehicle and get a good idea of how
the pipes will hang on the vehicle. Please read the instructions
fully and thoroughly before you begin.
1) Unbolt the original exhaust system at the flange behind the
converters and save the nuts. Disconnect the factory hangers from
the original system, leaving the rubber hanger mounts in place (except
for the rear most hanger mount). Remove the original system from
the vehicle.
2) Slide the included formed flange on the front extension pipe
(3” pipe with a ball flange on one end). The flat side of the
formed flange goes towards the front of the vehicle. You may need
to tap the flange onto the ball joint with a hammer to install.
Rotate the pipe to clear the cross member and install the original nuts
loosely on the flange.
3) Install the 3” hanger clamp to the front O.E. rubber hanger
mount. Clamp this same hanger clamp to the 3” front extension
pipe.
4) Install the y-pipe from the kit to the extension pipe (the leg
with the bend goes to the passenger side). Attach with a 3” clamp
included in the hardware kit.
5) Install the left tail pipe (4 bends) using a 2-1/4” clamp,
making sure that you have clearance between the rear brake line (bend
bracket to the front if necessary), shock, and spare tire. The
left tail pipe crosses over the top of the drive shaft and then crosses
over the top of the axle. Install the 2-1/4” hanger clamp to the
O.E. rubber hanger mount above the first bend in the left tail pipe,
and clamp to the left tail pipe. It will be necessary to gain the
proper clearance between the left tail pipe and the brake and breather
lines by tying the lines away using a wire or cable tie. You may
want to trim the pipe to length, so do not tighten the clamp yet.
6) Locate or drill a 5/16” hole in the frame after the last bend
in the left tail pipe and install a BR91930 swinger hanger to the frame
using a 5/16” x 1” bolt, nut, lock washer, and fender washer.
Clamp the hanger to the left tail pipe using a 2-1/4” clamp.
7) Install the right tail pipe (it has 5 bends) to the y-pipe
using a 2-1/4” clamp and making sure that you have at least 1/2” of
clearance from the shock. Do not tighten the clamp at this time.
8) Repeat Step 6) for the right tail pipe.
9) Trim your tail pipes as necessary. Hold up a tip to a
tail pipe and mark the length to cut off. Mount the muffler tips
to the tail pipes using a 2-1/4” clamps.
10) Tighten all clamps, nuts, and bolts. Check for leaks
and for clearance of all brake and fuel lines, and for clearance of all
chassis and frame components. We recommend tack welding the
joints (not necessary though).
