INSTRUCTIONS FOR KIT 1040065        SINGLE EXHAUST KIT                    

FITS 1995-1999 DODGE & PLYMOUTH NEON WITH BOTH SINGLE AND DUAL CAM MOTORS (NOTE:  SINGLE OUTLET).

NOTE:  DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY CLAMPS OR BOLTS UNTIL THE LAST STEP!

1)  REMOVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AT THE CLAMP BEHIND THE CONVERTER LEAVING ONLY THE ORIGINAL DOWN PIPE, RUBBER MOUNTS, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON THE VEHICLE.

2)  SLIP THE FRONT EXTENSION PIPE INTO PLACE ON THE CONVERTER AND SLIDE A 2-1/4” CLAMP ON THE PIPE.  THE FRONT PIPE IS A 2-1/2” PIPE SHRUNK TO 2-1/4” I.D. AND NOTCHED TO FIT THE CONVERTER. 

3)  INSTALL THE 2-1/2” MIDDLE EXTENSION PIPE TO THE FRONT EXTENSION PIPE USING A 2-1/2” CLAMP.  THE INLET OF THIS PIPE WILL SLIDE OVER THE FRONT EXTENSION PIPE (IT IS 2-1/2” I.D.).

4)  INSTALL THE I.D. END OF THE OVER THE AXLE PIPE TO THE MIDDLE EXTENSION PIPE.  USE THE FRONT 2-1/2" HANGER CLAMP TO ATTACH THE OVER THE AXLE PIPE AND THE MIDDLE EXTENSION PIPE.  ATTACH THE WIRE PORTION OF THE FRONT 2-1/2” HANGER CLAMP TO THE O.E. RUBBER MOUNT TO HANG THE PIPES.

5)  INSTALL THE MIDDLE 2-1/2” HANGER CLAMP TO THE END OF THE OVER THE AXLE PIPE.  ATTACH THE WIRE PORTION OF THE MIDDLE HANGER CLAMP TO THE O.E. RUBBER MOUNT ABOVE.

6)  INSTALL THE MUFFLER (CENTER IN/OFFSET OUT--TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE--SEE DIAGRAM) TO THE OVER THE AXLE PIPE USING A 2-1/2” CLAMP.

7)  INSTALL THE TAIL PIPE TO THE MUFFLER.  USE THE REAR 2-1/2” HANGER CLAMP TO CONNECT THE MUFFLER AND THE TAIL PIPE.  ATTACH THE WIRE PORTION OF THE REAR HANGER CLAMP TO THE O.E. RUBBER MOUNT ABOVE.  ADJUST THE TAIL PIPE FOR DESIRED EXIT.  YOU MAY TRIM THE TAIL PIPE OR CUT TO YOUR DESIRED STYLE OF EXIT.

8)  TIGHTEN ALL CLAMPS AND CHECK FOR CLEARANCE OF THE FRAME, BODY, AND BRAKE AND FUEL LINES.
